Pittsburgh St. John blanks Youngstown Tamburros
YOUNGSTOWN — Ryan Douglas pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts as Pittsburgh St. John posted a 8-0 victory over Youngstown Tamburros in a first-round NABF Major Division Regional tournament game Friday at Pemberton Park.
The first round scheduled earlier in the day was delayed by wet grounds following heavy rain Thursday night and Friday morning.
Later Friday, Roth Brothers played Barton Braves. The contest was not completed in time for this edition.
Ahead 5-0, St. John scored three more runs in the seventh inning. Andy Blackwell, Rick Krist and Greg Stokes each had two hits for the winners.
In other first round contests, Cleveland Black Wolves topped North Canton Terriers 5-2 and Steve’s Sports upended Taylorsville Titans 11-1.
Today, Taylorsville Titans take on Tamburros at Pemberton at 10 a.m. Other 10 a.m. contest will be played at Oakland and Koch fields.
Games are scheduled at Pemberton, Koch and Oakland at 12:30 p.m. to complete second round.
Round three will have games at Pemberton at 3, 5:30 and 8 p.m. and at Oakland at 4 p.m.
