Man convicted for fire that killed grandfather
HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been convicted of murder for setting a fire that killed his grandfather.
A Butler County jury also convicted Adam Collinsworth on two counts of aggravated arson. He’ll be sentenced Sept. 13 and could get up to 54 years in prison.
His grandfather, Clarence Collinsworth, 70, was a retired AK Steel worker and former president of the retired employees’ club.
Authorities said Adam Collinsworth set the March 4 fire because he was angry that his grandfather asked him to move from his Middletown home, where he had been staying.
He began crying after he heard relatives weeping behind him in the courtroom as the jury verdict was read Thursday.
“It’s a very, very sad case all around — for the victim, for the defendant, for the defendant’s family,” Judge Keith Spaeth said.
