RESCUE MISSION

RESCUE MISSION

Services offered

Among several offerings at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley is a nine-month resident program for men, which requires a two-week probationary period and has a zero-tolerance basis for drugs, alcohol and tobacco with random testing for these substances. Components for residents and expectations:

Five Bible classes and chapel services each week.

Five computer and learning center courses weekly.

Assistance with medications as well as physician and eye-care appointments through the Youngstown Health Department at no cost.

Free clothing and needed toiletries.

Pre-General Educational Development preparation through the learning center.

Christian counseling.

A weekly $5 stipend.

Participants are expected to join a church outside the mission and attend regularly.

Residents must complete assigned work duties.

Those in the program are required to have employment after nine months, though a resident can continue for an additional six months of after care if he follows guidelines and surrenders 75 percent of his paycheck to be in an account for his departure.
