Bond denied to teen pending trial
YOUNGSTOWN — A judge has ordered a man charged in the murder of an Auto Zone clerk held in Mahoning County Jail without bond pending trial.
An assistant county prosecutor asked that the bond be increased from $100,000 to at least $1 million and then called for the defendant to be denied bond.
“The proof in this case is evident and the presumption great that the accused committed the offense described,” Judge R. Scott Krichbaum said today before denying bond for Jamaad Jackson, 18, of Wychwood Lane.
Jackson is charged with murder and aggravated robbery in the May 2, 2006, robbery and shooting death of Edward Agee, 52, of Star Street, at the McCartney Road auto parts store.
Because he was a juvenile when the crimes occurred, Jackson’s case originated in juvenile court. Anissa Jones, the juvenile court prosecutor, asked for, and Judge Theresa Dellick approved, the $100,000 figure Aug. 1, when Jackson was bound over for trial as an adult.
