TAG announces winners of 43rd juried art exhibit


WARREN — The winners of the 43rd TAG Annual Juried Art Exhibition were announced at Trumbull Art Gallery’s 50th birthday party Sunday, which served as the opening reception.

Juror Christopher Ryan, assistant professor of art and Frohring Gallery director at Hiram College, selected the works for exhibit and determined $2,500 in cash prizes, which were sponsored in part by Biviano Carpet One, Butler Wick Trust Co., Diane Sauer Chevrolet Inc. and 717 Credit Union.

Winning best of show and a $550 cash award for her two oil paintings was Alice Tomko of Warren.

Also winning were: John Guy Petruzzi of Boardman, first place of $450 for his two mixed-media paintings; Amy Woodyard of Cortland, second place and $350 for her two ceramic pieces; Gail Trunick of Burghill, third place and $250 for a sculpture, “Ding-a-Ling DNA”; and Don Pedicini of Hubbard, juror’s choice and $100 for his oil painting “Oranges in a Pan.”

Ryan also awarded honorable mention prizes of $100 each to Mark Bush of Niles, Jack Carlton of Girard, Alan Charles Orr of Youngstown, Robert C. Hoppin of Akron, Christopher Leeper and Don Wright of Canfield and Ed Beyer and John W. Carlson of Bay Village.
