ROUNDUP | Wednesday’s other games

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Devil Rays 7, Tigers 1

DETROIT — Dioner Navarro had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Tampa Bay snapped an eight-game road losing streak. Navarro, who homered Tuesday night, is now hitting .201, the first time he is above .200 since May 15. Delmon Young and Carlos Pena both drove in two runs in Tampa Bay’s third win in its last 22 road games. Detroit, which entered play one-half game behind first-place Cleveland in the AL Central, dropped to 3-10 since July 25. James Shields (9-7) beat the Tigers for the second time this season, giving up one run and five hits in seven innings. He struck out nine without walking a batter. Chad Durbin (7-5), making his first start since June 19, allowed three runs and six hits in 41⁄3 innings.

Blue Jays 15, Yankees 4

TORONTO — Vernon Wells had four RBIs and Roy Halladay struck out eight over seven innings for Toronto. Frank Thomas added three RBIs for the Blue Jays, who have won nine of their past 11 home games. Wells finished 3-for-4 and scored twice as Toronto matched a franchise record with nine doubles. Robinson Cano hit two home runs, one a two-run shot, and Hideki Matsui added a solo blast, but the Yankees’ five-game winning streak came to a close. Halladay (13-5) gave up four runs and six hits and walked one.

Mariners 8, Orioles 4

BALTIMORE — Jose Vidro homered and drove in four runs and Ichiro Suzuki had three hits for Seattle. Vidro hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added sacrifice flies in the fourth and sixth. He was 3-for-3, and the four RBIs matched a season high. Jose Guillen and Raul Ibanez homered for the Mariners, who have won eight of 11. It was the third home run in two games for Ibanez, who had gone 31 games without one until Tuesday night. Felix Hernandez (8-6) gave up four runs and 10 hits in 62⁄3 innings.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Mets 4, Braves 3

NEW YORK — Moises Alou hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning and Billy Wagner escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the ninth. Wagner earned his 350th career save — 26th this season — and extended his scoreless streak to 21 innings when Andruw Jones grounded into a game-ending double play. Jeff Francouer bounced into a force play at the plate for the first out. Shawn Green went 4-for-4 for the Mets, who beat Atlanta for the fourth time in 11 meetings this season. Luis Castillo’s broken-bat, two-run single off reliever Ron Mahay tied the score with two outs in the seventh. Alou homered on an 0-2 pitch from Rafael Soriano (2-3). Aaron Heilman (7-3) worked a scoreless eighth for the win.

Rockies 19, Brewers 4

DENVER — Garrett Atkins matched his career high with six RBIs and had four of Colorado’s 23 hits as it completed a three-game sweep of slumping Milwaukee. Colorado had its biggest offensive day since a 20-1 victory over San Diego on Sept. 20, 2005, when the Rockies also had 23 hits. Jeff Francis (13-5) improved to 8-0 in his last 11 starts. He allowed three runs and six hits in five innings.

Reds 1, Dodgers 0

CINCINNATI — Ken Griffey Jr. singled home a run and made two rally-killing defensive plays for Cincinnati as Los Angeles was shut out for the third straight game. Aaron Harang (11-3) returned from a sore back that cost him a start to limit Los Angeles to four hits over eight innings.

Phillies 6, Marlins 4

PHILADELPHIA — Aaron Rowand homered for Philadelphia, which kept Florida’s Dontrelle Willis winless in his last 13 starts. Not even a two-run homer by Willis (7-12) could save the former 20-game winner from extending the longest losing streak of his career. He’s 0-9 with four no-decisions while the Marlins have gone 3-10 in his outings since his last victory on May 29 at the Chicago Cubs.

Astros 8, Cubs 2

HOUSTON — Roy Oswalt pitched six shutout innings and Craig Biggio and Lance Berkman hit solo home runs off Carlos Zambrano as Houston completed a three-game sweep. Luke Scott added a two-run triple and Mike Lamb had a two-run double as Houston snapped a four-game losing streak to Zambrano, who hadn’t given up more than one earned run in a start against Houston in almost two years. Oswalt (12-6) won his fourth straight start while snapping a four-game losing streak to Chicago.

Cardinals 2, Padres 1

ST. LOUIS — Kip Wells limited San Diego to an unearned run in seven innings, and St. Louis got first-inning RBIs from Juan Encarnacion and Albert Pujols. Encarnacion’s RBI double was the second in a string of four straight hits to start the first inning off Greg Maddux. Pujols followed Encarnacion’s hit with the go-ahead run-scoring single, helping the Cardinals win for only the second time in eight games.
