Howland native overseas with Peace Corps

HOWLAND — Robi Michelle Rawl, 28, the daughter of Robert and Karen Rawl of Howland, has been accepted into the Peace Corps. Rawl and her husband, William Marbury, departed for South Africa on July 19 and are now training to become teacher resource Peace Corps Volunteers.

Upon graduation from training, Rawl will be training teachers and building curriculum in a small cluster of primary schools. Rawl’s work with the school and community resource project focusses on rural communities that were greatly suppressed during apartheid.
