Attorney general moves part of office downtown
YOUNGSTOWN — Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann will move a portion of his command, and 38 jobs, to 20 Federal Place, the former Phar-Mor building. The city announced that the attorney general has entered into a lease to occupy 21,517 square feet on the building’s third floor. The site will house the regional office of the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, a Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and a debt collection call center. “City officials are delighted to have the deal finalized and look forward to having such a significant part of the attorney general’s operations in downtown Youngstown,” said Mayor Jay Williams. “The AG’s presence here will be beneficial to the entire Mahoning Valley and beyond.” Assistant attorney generals who represent the Bureau of Workers Compensation and the Department of Transportation also will be housed at the site.
Police search for robber
CAMPBELL — A bank robber who whispered to the clerk to “give me all your hundreds” escaped with an undetermined amount of money Tuesday afternoon from the National City bank at 403 Tenney Ave. The clerk told police the thief implied he had a gun, but she saw no weapon. The suspect fled the bank on foot at 3:50 p.m. Campbell police and the FBI are investigating. The suspect is described as a black man, 35 to 45 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing between 160 and 190 pounds.
Night Out canceled
Heavy rains Tuesday and the threat of more rain later in the evening forced the cancellation of Night Out events in Youngstown and Liberty. Liberty rescheduled its event for 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 9. There was no immediate word on the rescheduling of the Youngstown event. Night Out events went on as planned in New Middletown and Lawrence County.
Trustees move meeting
NEW SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Township trustees’ regular monthly meeting scheduled for 8 tonight is canceled and rescheduled for 8 p.m. Aug. 15 at the administration building, 3475 E. South Range Road.

Strickland OKs new farm policy group
COLUMBUS — Gov. Ted Strickland signed an executive order Tuesday creating a farm policy group to study Ohio agriculture and provide advice on ways to improve production, processing and consumer access. The Ohio Food Policy Advisory Council will analyze all segments of the farming industry “from its most basic level of production through processing and to the market,” Strickland said at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, where he announced the initiative. The Ohio Department of Agriculture will administer the council, which is to be composed of representatives from state agencies, the Legislature and various farm- and food-related groups, including the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, the Ohio Farmers Union, American Farmland Trust and the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association, Strickland said.
Bus tours scheduled
RAVENNA — Bus tours of the Ravenna Army Ammunition plant are scheduled for Sept. 11-12. The tours are limited to 200 people. Call Christy Esler at (330) 358-2920 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to make reservations. Priority for tour invitations will be granted to members of the general public that have not attended a previous tour.
