Allegiant Air to expand offerings
Allegiant Air, the Las Vegas-based low-cost airline flying out of the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport to the Sanford International Airport in Florida twice a week, is expanding service to Fort Lauderdale and Phoenix/Mesa, Ariz.
The cities getting the routes, however, have not been announced.
The airline will launch to Fort Lauderdale from 12 markets, 11 of which it already serves. The first route will be announced and available for purchase starting Thursday.
The remaining 11 routes will be announced before the end of the year.
The first flights will arrive in the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Nov. 14.
Allegiant will use the same type of 150-seat MD-80 series jet aircraft at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport that it uses for its Youngstown-Warren/Sanford International flights.
Fort Lauderdale will serve as the fifth base for Allegiant, which also serves McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Sanford, and the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.
Allegiant will also begin service to the Phoenix/Mesa, Ariz., area from 13 cities through the Williams Gateway Airport starting Oct. 25. The first route will be announced and available for purchase Thursday, with the remaining 12 routes being announced before Sept. 16.
