16-year-old had gun at playground

YOUNGSTOWN — A 16-year-old Verona Avenue boy who had a gun at the playground at Kimmel and Kenneth streets was chased and caught by police. Officers responding to a call about the gun first saw the boy on a park table around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. He jumped a fence when he saw the officers and tossed the gun in the 1400 block of Gray Street, police said. The boy was caught on Kimmel and taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center. The gun was taken as evidence.
