Gary Puckett to perform at Warren amphitheater
WARREN — A trip down memory lane for Mariano Longo was not as vibrant as he wanted it to be.
He graduated from Howland High School in 1973, wanting to be a musician. When he returned to Howland and Warren for a visit last year, he was not satisfied with what he saw, until he saw the Warren Community Amphitheatre.
Longo described the amphitheater as a “jewel of hope” and wanted to use it as a way to get a younger, more diverse crowd to attend a city-sponsored concert.
So Longo, a pianist for Gary Puckett of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap fame, created a concert called Generation Us that he hopes will attract a broad audience.
Puckett and his band will perform Friday at the amphitheater in Warren. Two other bands will open the show and add to the variety of music.
