NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Erica Burkey pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts while Andrea Lyon and Rebecca Evan each had a single to spark a three-run first inning, to key Springfield High to a 4-2 victory over Hubbard Saturday in the first game of their softball doubleheader.
Gabby Flynn took the loss despite allowing just three hits.
In the nightcap, Kara Egelsky pitched a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts while Flynn had a run-scoring single to highlight a two-run third inning, as Hubbard won 3-2.
Ashley Davis pitched a two-hitter for Springfield in taking the loss.
Andrea Lyon and Breanne Mincher each had two singles for Springfield.
Crestview 9-2, Sebring 3-3
SEBRING -- Bri Valiku's two hits and seven Sebring errors helped the Rebels in the first game.
For the Trojans (8-11), Chantel Fox homered, Ashley Smith doubled and Jillian Faudree had two hits.
In the Trojans' win, Jordan Henderson and Chelsea Neeb doubled while Sara Caddell had the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs.
Lowellville 21-16, Wilson 0-1
LOWELLVILLE -- In the first game of the doubleheader, the Rockets sent 13 batters to the plate in the second inning as they scored nine runs. Casey Wilson and Jacque Schrader each had two hits in the inning. Wilson added three more hits during the contest, scored five times and stole two bases.
The Rockets' (11-6) Schrader hit a double, single, walked, stole six bases and drove in four runs in the second game.
Southeast 16-6, Newton Falls 1-3
RAVENNA -- Jennifer Gahagan had a double and two singles for three RBIs to lead Southeast's abbreviated first-game win.
Shannon Hamilton (9-1) limited Newton Falls to three hits.
Alyssa Biltz and Meagan Wain each knocked in two runs, while Katelin Dillon had two singles for a pair of RBIs.
In the second game, Danielle Kaley struck out 10 and had two doubles and two RBIs for Southeast (14-2).
Also for the Pirates, Wain added two singles, while Emily Coy and Jaime Fesemyer each had a run-scoring single.
West Branch 11-3, Salem 0-8
BELOIT -- Lyndsey Todor (2-8) pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts for the Warriors in the first game of the doubleheader.
The Warriors held a 6-0 lead after the second inning of the five-inning contest.
Brittany Snyder hit two triples and double and drove in four runs for the Warriors. Bri Benedict hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs.
In the second game, Britteny Gregory (3-4) of the Quakers (5-8) scattered eight hits with 10 strikeouts to pick up the win.
Leading 4-1, Salem scored four insurance runs in the seventh inning. Jessie Dillon and Gregory each had two hits for the Quakers. Kelsey Price hit a double and single for the Warriors (3-14).
