YOUNGSTOWN -- Easy Street Productions combines many of the most beloved children's songs from Broadway and Hollywood musicals into "The Kids and I," the troupe's first musical revue designed especially for children. It's scheduled for two matinee performances this weekend in the Ford Family Recital Hall.
The revue includes selections from "Annie," "The Sound of Music," "Oliver," "The Wizard of Oz," "Mary Poppins," "Peter Pan," "The Lion King," "Beauty and the Beast" and "High School Musical."
Every year, Easy Street's youth corps -- dubbed The Little Rascals -- receives an overwhelming response in the annual Christmas spectacular, "Miracle on Easy Street." It was this audience reaction that prompted Easy Street co-founder Maureen Collins to create "The Kids and I," which features the Little Rascals.
Collins will star in the production, along with more than 60 area youngsters.
Choreography for the "The Kids and I" will be provided by Renee Rogers, and Jeff Sanders will serve as musical director of the Easy Street Little Big Band.
Show times are 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are 20 for adults, 15 for seniors and 12 for children 12 and under. Reservations can be made by calling the Easy Street box office at (330) 743-8555.
In addition to the two public performances, four shows are being offered for schools. Seating in the Ford Hall, located inside the DeYor Performing Arts Center, is limited, so educators are urged to make reservations as soon as possible.
