Girard police investigate rape

GIRARD — Police are investigating a Highland Avenue rape.

A 25-year-old Highland Avenue woman arrived home from work at 12:30 a.m. Thursday and was getting out of her vehicle when a man attacked her from behind, pushed her up against her car and raped her, a police report said. The man ran then off. Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything unusual in the Highland Avenue area to call the department.

Detective Greg Manente cautions residents to have someone with them or looking out for them when traveling, keep car doors locked when arriving home until certain no threat of danger is around, and make good use of exterior lighting.
