MLB ROUNDUP Tuesday's other games

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Devil Rays 6, Yankees 4
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Carl Crawford hit his first career grand slam and New York's Alex Rodriguez had his 23-game hitting streak ended in Tampa Bay's victory. The loss was the Yankees' fifth straight and dropped them into last place in the AL East. A night after hitting his 13th and 14th homers to tie the major league record for home runs in April, Rodriguez went 0-for-3 with a walk. Rodriguez hit safely in 18 consecutive games to start the season and 23 straight dating to last September. Chien-Ming Wang (0-1) allowed four runs and nine hits in 6 1-3 innings after being activated from the disabled list earlier Tuesday. He left with two runners on in the seventh. Luis Vizcaino intentionally walked Rocco Baldelli to load the bases. One out later, Crawford capped a 4-for-4 night with the home run that erased a 3-2 deficit and gave Tampa Bay a two-game sweep.
Blue Jays 10, Red Sox 3
BOSTON -- Vernon Wells went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs and Roy Halladay struck out 10 in eight innings for Toronto, which took advantage of four Boston errors. Wells, who hit his fourth homer in the first inning, matched career highs for hits and runs. It was the 12th four-hit game of his career and the third time he has scored four runs. Halladay (3-0) allowed three runs and five hits, reaching double figures in strikeouts for the sixth time in his career, and the first since 2005. Julian Tavarez (0-2) gave up six runs and seven hits in 42/3 innings. Kyle Snyder relieved and gave up four unearned runs while getting just four outs. Mike Lowell homered for the Red Sox, his third in his last three games.
Angels 9, Tigers 8, 10 innings
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Detroit closer Todd Jones' throwing error led to the winning run for the Angels, who blew a seven-run lead and still came away with the victory. Kendry Morales led off the 10th with a chopping single off the plate that Jones (0-1) fielded before firing wildly past first base. After an intentional walk, the runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt, and the Tigers pulled the infield in. Second baseman Placido Polanco charged Erick Aybar's slow bouncer and threw high to the plate, allowing pinch-runner Reggie Willits to slide across with the winning run. Dustin Moseley (2-0) got the final out in the 10th for the Angels.
Athletics 4, Orioles 2
BALTIMORE -- Dallas Braden allowed three hits over six innings to win his major league debut and give Oakland a two-game sweep. Braden (1-0) gave up one run, struck out six and walked one -- his first batter. The left-hander permitted only one runner past second base. Huston Street, the fourth Oakland reliever, worked a perfect ninth for his sixth save. Oakland set a major league record by keeping Baltimore scoreless in the first. It was the 20th straight game in which the A's failed to allow a first-inning run, a record for the start of the season. The old mark of 19 was set by the 1990 Milwaukee Brewers and matched by Boston in 2005, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Jeremy Guthrie (1-1) allowed one earned run and four hits in five innings. It was his second major league start and first with Baltimore.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Braves 11, Marlins 6
MIAMI -- Four Atlanta relievers combined to pitch six shutout innings, and the Braves scored all of their runs with two outs. Peter Moylan (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings for his first major league win. Bob Wickman finished with a one-hit ninth and has yet to allow a run in 9 2-3 innings. Florida's Cody Ross doubled and homered to drive in five runs, all off starter Mark Redman. The Braves scored four runs in the first and four in the ninth. Brian McCann put Atlanta ahead 7-6 in the sixth with a sacrifice fly off Matt Lindstrom (0-1). Atlanta's Jeff Francoeur drove home two runs with a double and a single, giving him 18 two-out RBIs this season. Marlins rookie starter Rick Vanden Hurk gave up six runs in one-plus inning and saw his ERA rise to 12.75 in four appearances.
Phillies 6, Nationals 3
PHILADELPHIA -- Wes Helms drove in the go-ahead run with a single in a three-run eighth inning to lead Philadelphia to its fourth straight win. Antonio Alfonseca (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth, and Tom Gordon worked the ninth for his fourth save. Nationals starter Jason Bergmann allowed two runs -- one earned -- and three hits in six innings, leaving with a 3-2 lead. But Aaron Rowand hit reliever Saul Rivera's second pitch into the left-field seats to tie it at 3 in the seventh. Chase Utley was hit by a pitch from Micah Bowie (0-1) leading off the bottom of the eighth. One out later, Jon Rauch walked Pat Burrell and Helms followed with a single to right-center that scored Utley to make it 4-3.
Mets 2, Rockies 1, 12 innings
NEW YORK -- Pinch-hitter Damion Easley hit a tying homer with two outs in the 10th inning and Endy Chavez drove in the winning run with a beautiful bunt single in the 12th, giving the Mets the victory. Slumping rookie Troy Tulowitzki broke up a scoreless game with a two-out RBI triple in the 10th off Billy Wagner. Colorado closer Brian Fuentes retired his first two batters in the bottom half and was one strike from his fifth save when Easley drove a 2-2 pitch over the left-center fence for his fourth career pinch-hit homer. It was the first home run by a Mets pinch-hitter this season.
Brewers 4, Cubs 1
CHICAGO -- It just gets worse and worse for the Chicago Cubs. Prince Fielder homered for the second straight game, and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the punchless Cubs. Fielder ended a 19-inning scoreless streak for Rich Hill (3-1) with a two-run drive in the fourth, his fifth home run of the season and third in two games. Kevin Mench added a solo homer in the sixth, and Rickie Weeks had an RBI single in the seventh. Last-place Chicago (7-13), in its first season under manager Lou Piniella, has lost three straight and dropped to 3-9 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs had men in scoring position from the second to sixth innings, but couldn't take advantage. In that span they led off innings with hits four times. Milwaukee (13-7), which began the night with a 21/2-game lead in the NL Central, has won four straight and six of seven. Jeff Suppan (3-2) allowed eight hits and one walk in eight scoreless innings, repeatedly pitching out of trouble. After Mark DeRosa hit an RBI double off Derrick Turnbow in the ninth, Francisco Cordero struck out pinch-hitter Cliff Floyd for his eighth save.
