Defendant arraigned in Auto Zone killing

YOUNGSTOWN — One of the three men charged with the shooting death of an Auto Zone clerk was arraigned today in municipal court.

Bond was set at $3 million for Reginald K. Everson, 20, of Youngstown on charges of murder and aggravated robbery. He will be back in court May 2 for a preliminary hearing.

He was captured in February at his sister’s house in California. He was booked into the Mahoning County jail late Tuesday night.

Already in custody in connection with the shooting are Jamaad Jackson, 18, and Melvin T. Dixon Jr., 23, both of Youngstown. They, too, are charged with murder and aggravated robbery. Police have said Dixon was the triggerman.

Edward Agee, 52, of Star Street was killed May 2, 2006 during a robbery attempt by three masked men who entered the Auto Zone, 1960 McCartney Road, just before closing time.
