Regis plans to return
NEW YORK -- David Letterman will be Regis Philbin's first guest when he returns Thursday to "Live With Regis and Kelly" after having triple heart bypass surgery six weeks ago.
Philbin was a guest host on CBS' "Late Show" after Letterman underwent heart bypass surgery in 2000. He also stepped in when Letterman was recovering from an eye infection in 2003.
Philbin, 75, has been at home recuperating since his surgery last month.
'Scream' thieves sentenced
OSLO, Norway -- Three men who worked together to steal Edvard Munch's masterpieces "The Scream" and "Madonna" were sentenced Monday to prison for their roles in the brazen daylight heist carried out by masked gunmen. Both paintings were recovered, but were damaged.
One of the gunmen, the getaway driver and the mastermind of the 2004 theft at Oslo's Munch Museum were convicted in late March. The second suspected gunman died in November before charges could be filed.
Two years after the theft, police recovered the paintings, which were scraped and punctured, their paint dislodged. The museum is considering using an eye-surgeon to remove glass shards embedded in the canvas after the frames were broken.
Sandler's acting tips
NEW YORK -- Adam Sandler says there's a moral to his upcoming movie, in which he plays a heterosexual fireman who pretends to be gay.
"This movie says there's nothing wrong with being gay. There's just something wrong with being gay for Kevin James," Sandler told Newsweek.
James, star of the CBS comedy "The King of Queens," and Sandler portray firemen pretending to be a gay couple to receive domestic partnership benefits. The film, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," is scheduled to be released July 20.
"I know Kevin, and it's kind of a strange thing to have to play. So to ease the tension, before the first day of shooting, we had sex with each other," Sandler said. "We just got it out of the way so it wouldn't be an issue. It's an old tip I picked up from working with [Jack] Nicholson."
