Man pleads guilty to robbery, assault

YOUNGSTOWN -- Court officials said two cases, one involving robbery and the other assault, against Bruce Clinkscale, 34, of Lanterman Avenue, were resolved with his pleading guilty in a plea bargain.
In an appearance Monday before Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge R. Scott Krichbaum, Clinkscale pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery with firearm specifications in a 2006 case in which he robbed two men at gunpoint at a Tod Lane home.
Authorities said one of the victims was able to wrestle with Clinkscale while the second victim retrieved a gun of his own and shot Clinkscale. Clinkscale managed to escape but was arrested three days later.
As part of his plea bargain, Clinkscale also pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault with firearm specifications in a 2007 case. Details of that case weren't immediately available.
He could face a total of six years in prison on the firearm specifications in the two cases, up to 10 years on each of the aggravated robbery charges and up to eight years on each of the felonious assault counts.
The prosecution has recommended a total of 15 years in prison for both cases.
Sentencing has been set for 9 a.m. June 22 before Judge Krichbaum.
