Convicted killer gets additional sentence

LISBON — A man recently convicted for killing a woman was sentenced to one year in prison for taking part for a disturbance at the Columbiana County Jail. Andrew G. Irwin, 25, of East Liverpool, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of vandalism.

He and other prisoners fought with guards at the jail on Oct. 6, 2006, over the quality of jail food. Irwin was convicted of murder in March in the stabbing death of Emily Foreman, 21, in Liverpool Township, last August. The new sentence will run concurrently with the murder sentence of 15 years to life.

Irwin’s lawyers will argue for a new trial on the murder charge. They claim another man confessed that he killed Foreman.
