"American Idol" (8 p.m. tonight and Wednesday, Fox): Now votes you cast on "American Idol" mean something more. On the two-night special "Idol Gives Back," votes cast will translate into aid for the needy. "Idol's" top six finalists will perform songs about compassion and hope. After the performance show, viewers will vote for their favorite contestants via toll-free numbers and text messages, as usual. But for every vote cast, sponsors Coca-Cola, AT & amp;T and other corporate partners will donate money to relief efforts to help young people living in extreme poverty in America and Africa. During the Wednesday event, along with corporate contributions, viewers will be able to make their own donations via toll-free lines and the Internet. In the U.S., the money will be distributed to Save the Children and other U.S. organizations The special has also drawn other artists' support. Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban, Pink, Michael Buble, Annie Lennox, Il Divo and Sacha Baron Cohen will appear.
"Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" (9 p.m., PBS): The business scandal that grabbed headlines in 2001 is in the spotlight as this "Independent Lens" documentary traces the fall of the Texas company that has come to define corporate disgrace. Accounting fraud ravaged the company as top executives walked away with more than a billion dollars, leaving employees and stockholders in the lurch.
"Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" (9 p.m., The CW): Expect the fur to fly on the season finale of "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll." We'll finally learn the identity of the fabulous performer who gets to join the girl group.
