Pupil participation
Thousands of local children participate in the school Free and Reduced Price Breakfast program. Eligibility is income-based, but some districts, such as Youngstown, offer a free breakfast to any child in their buildings. The number of local participants in the 2005-06 school year were:
Mahoning: 5,385 (with 987,282 breakfasts served).
Trumbull: 3,624 (with 642,127 breakfasts served).
Columbiana: 2,317 (with 406,888 breakfasts served).
Ohio: 284,315 (number of breakfasts served not available).
