Anointing of the sick
COLUMBIANA -- St. Jude Church, 180 Seventh St., will host an anointing of the sick during Mass at 4 p.m. Sunday and a reception will follow. Anointing of the sick is one of the seven sacraments and formerly was referred to as Last Rites.
Today, this sacrament is celebrated with the seriously ill, those facing surgery, those recovering from surgery, those weakened by advanced age, the physically challenged and shut-ins.
Sacred music program
VIENNA -- The choir of Marietta Bible College will present a program of sacred music at 7 p.m. April 28 at Vienna Baptist Church, 504 Youngstown-Kingsville Road.
The service is a part of a four-day meeting at the church that will continue April 29-May 2 with services at 7 p.m. Myron K. Guiler, founder and president of Marietta, will be the speaker.
Concert at church
POLAND -- The Keeling Family will present a concert during the worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Bethel Friends Church, 2771 Spitler Road. A free-will offering will be taken.
Coffee and contemplation
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Villa Maria Spirituality and Education Center will offer another program in its coffee and contemplation series planned from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 1. Sister Ardath Blake will reflect on the use of the beatitudes in the Old and New Testaments as a means for each person to "Choose Life."

COLUMBIANA -- Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Road, will host the Kingdom Seekers, a ministry team from Bluffton University, during a performance at 7 today.
Pastor's anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- The third anniversary of the Rev. John W. Tate II, senior pastor at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 351 W. Rayen Ave., will be marked at services at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.
Word and Music Ministry
GIRARD -- Word and Music Ministry will present a concert Friday as part of its coffee-house series at the former Wellman Theater, 29 W Liberty St. Hours are from 7 to 11 p.m. Performers will be Divine Excellence from New Beginnings Ministries of Youngstown, and Purpose of Louisville, both contemporary praise and worship bands.
Baptist association
YOUNGSTOWN -- Shenango Valley Baptist Association will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Oak Baptist Church, 320 Elk St. The Sunday school department will sponsor a free program with the speaker, the Rev. G. Wilkins, pastor of Mount Sinai Baptist Church. The theme is reconciliation.
Banquet to honor parents

WARREN -- The Mind, Body and Soul Asset Development Center at Genesis Christian Community Center Outreach will sponsor a free program, "Seven Types of Haters to Shake Off," for youth and families at 5 p.m. April 28 at Western Reserve Middle School, 200 Loveless. The drama event is coordinated by Joy and Praise Ministries Church, 2615 Market St., Youngstown, and focuses on peer pressures of dating, drugs, alcohol and violence. Prize registration will be from 4 to 5 p.m.
