Some of the deadliest days in Iraq:
Nov. 23, 2006: Mortar rounds and five car bombs killed 215 people in Baghdad's Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City, and 66 others in attacks around the country -- a total of 281 dead.
Wednesday: Officials report 233 people killed or found dead across Iraq. At least 183 of those were killed when four large bombs exploded in mainly Shiite locations of Baghdad.
March 27, 2007: At least 198 people were reported killed or found dead. Truck bombs hit markets in the northwestern city of Tal Afar, killing at least 152 people, while an additional 46 Iraqis were also killed or found dead.
March 6, 2007: Officials reported 194 deaths, including 120 by two suicide bombers in a crowd of Shiite pilgrims in Hillah, south of Baghdad.
March 2, 2004: Coordinated blasts from suicide bombers, mortars and planted explosives struck Shiite Muslim shrines in Karbala and in Baghdad, killing at least 181 people.
March 29, 2007: At least 179 people were killed, including 104 by multiple suicide bombers in the town of Khalis and in predominantly Shiite markets in Baghdad.
Sept. 14, 2005: More than a dozen coordinated bombings ripped through Baghdad, killing 178 people.
Feb. 3, 2007: Officials reported 167 deaths, including 137 by a suicide truck bomber at a market in a predominantly Shiite area of Baghdad.
Nov. 12, 2006: Sectarian violence across the country claimed at least 159 lives, including 35 men blown apart while waiting to join Iraq's police force.
Jan. 16, 2007: Violence throughout Iraq killed 142 people, including 70 in bombings at a university in Baghdad.
Feb. 1, 2007: Officials said 138 people were killed nationwide, including 73 killed by two suicide bombers in a market in Hillah.
Jan. 22, 2007: Officials reported 138 deaths, including 88 by a parked car bomb followed immediately by a suicide car bomber in a predominantly Shiite area in Baghdad.
Jan. 5, 2006: Attacks killed at least 130 people, including five U.S. soldiers. The deadliest attacks of the day were a suicide bombing in Ramadi that killed 56 people and a suicide blast near a Shiite Muslim shrine in Karbala that killed 63.
