Kiraly fires no-hit, 16-0 win for J-M



Bri Jones and Dani Seidel combined for a one-hitter in Sebring's 18-0 win.
SALINEVILLE -- Krista Kiraly pitched a five-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts Tuesday to lead the Jackson-Milton High softball team to a 16-0 victory over Southern.
Kortney Gagaridi, Cat Keck and Kiraly (5-3) each hit two doubles for the Bluejays (6-5, 6-1 Inter-Tri-County League Tier Two).
Everyone in the Bluejays' starting lineup had at least one hit as they compiled 16 hits.
Sebring 18, Wellsville 0
SEBRING -- Bri Jones and Dani Seidel combined to toss a one-hitter for the Trojans (4-8, 3-4 ITCL Tier Two).
Katie Wilson's three hits included a triple. She scored two twice and drove in three runs.
Sarah Caddell and Chelsea Neeb each had two hits, with Neeb driving in three runs.
Minerva 7, West Branch 0
BELOIT -- Shea Covert scattered five hits and shut out West Branch for Minerva (4-4).
Bri Benedict led West Branch (2-8) with two hits. Lyndsey Todor struck out five in five innings, but suffered the loss.
Southeast 1, Kent Roosevelt 0
KENT -- Jen Gahagan singled home the game's only run in the top of the eighth inning as Southeast improved to 8-2.
Danielle Kaley and Lindsay Speidel each added two hits, while Shannon Hamilton pitched a two-hitter to improve to 6-1 on the season.
BaseballJackson 6, Fitch 5
MASSILLON -- The Polar Bears (8-1, 4-1 Federal League) won the game on a squeeze play. Alex Caghan had two hits while Jim Cooperider doubled.
For the Falcons (6-4, 1-1), Joe Koch, Nick Wiery and Chuck Olesky each had two hits, with Olesky driving in three runs.
Fitch starting pitcher Steve Gruver worked six innings and struck out 10 batters while walking three.
Reliever Brandon Conztanza (0-2) took the loss.
Poland 15, Struthers 6
STRUTHERS -- Kevin Koval went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs for the Bulldogs who explodes for 16 hits.
Logan Wigley (4-0) got the win. Poland led 7-6 after four innings then scored seven times in the top of the fifth.
Mooney 16, Chaney 6
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tony Brunetti went 3-for-3 including a double to lead Mooney's 15-hit attack in a five-inning game.
Matt Durkin and Drew Fitzpatrick also had three hits, while Bobby Herberger had two hits. Anthony Franceschelli added a triple for the winners.
Shawn Wheland had two hits for Chaney.
West Branch 6, Marlington 1
BELOIT -- Bo Beegle's two hits included a double and drove in two runs for the Warriors (8-2, 4-2 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Evan Campbell had two hits for West Branch while Eric Stull had an RBI single. Winning pitcher Tyler Newhart (3-2) allowed four hits, struck out six batters and walked five.
For Marlington (4-4, 2-3), Cael Benedict had an RBI single.
Kent Roosevelt 5, Southeast 3
KENT -- Southeast jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead, but couldn't hold on against Kent Roosevelt.
Greg Lemley had a home run and drove in two runs for Southeast (2-7). Richard Hedrick added two singles.
