Elderly man carjacked on Belmont Avenue

LIBERTY — Police are looking for a man who carjacked a 72-year-old Warren man on Belmont Avenue this afternoon.

According to police, the man told officers he had just finished eating a frozen yogurt at a local ice cream shop then drove across Belmont Avenue to another restaurant when a man threatened to beat him up if he did not hand over the keys to his 2000 BMW.

The man told police he threw the keys and ran into the restaurant.

The man and witnesses told police the carjacker, described as a light skin black male between 18 and 25 years old, picked up the keys and drove away in the car.
