Boardman native finishes marathon

BOARDMAN -- Mary (Roach) Mulcrone, a native of Boardman and a 1973 Boardman High graduate, completed Monday's Boston Marathon in her first try.
Mulcrone, 51, of Western Springs, Ill., who qualified for Boston by running the Columbus Marathon in 3:37 last November, ran the 26-mile, 385-yard Boston course Monday in 3:35.43.
The Columbus Marathon was her first marathon, and she placed second in her age group.
The daughter of Jerry and Rosemarie Roach of Boardman, Mulcrone has been competing in triathlons for about eight years before adding the marathon to her interests.
She has nursing degrees from St. Elizabeth in Youngstown and the University of Illinois-Chicago, and her master's degree in business from Loyola-Chicago. She works in the risk management field in the Chicago area.
