Surprise anniversary reception held for Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chapman



NILES -- Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chapman, 1441 Windward Way, were surprised by friends and relatives who gathered on March 11 at Westfork Roadhouse on Belmont Avenue, Youngstown, to honor the couple on their 50th wedding anniversary.
Invitations for the luncheon were issued by their family, John Chapman of McDonald, Kathy Chapman of Niles, and Karen and Frank Cretella of Girard. Also participating were their grandchildren, Frank Cretella Jr., Katie Cretella and her fianc & eacute;, Ryan Tolone; and great-grandson, Dominick Tolone.
Foster Memorial Presbyterian Church in Youngstown was the setting March 9, 1957, as the former Judith Philips and Mr. Chapman were united in marriage.
Mrs. Chapman, a homemaker, attended Kent State University and was employed part time at the family grocery store, Philips Dairy in Girard.
While Mr. Chapman served with the U.S. Navy, the couple lived in Newport, R.I. Upon returning to Ohio, he worked at Copperweld Steel Co. until retiring. He is a member of the Masons and of the Army Navy Garrison 422 in Niles.
