Canfield Road man held on rape charge

YOUNGSTOWN -- A city woman stopped police in the street around 5 p.m. Saturday and said she had been held at gunpoint all day and raped by a man she knows who had broken into her house. She told police the man was still in the house and had a gun.
Police said three officers searched the South Lakeview Avenue house and found Derrick Tillman, 42, of Canfield Road. They also found a gun rolled up in a flannel shirt and discovered a broken basement window.
Tillman was in the Mahoning County Jail on Saturday night on charges of rape, kidnapping, domestic violence and aggravated burglary.
The woman said Tillman entered her bedroom around 6 a.m. Saturday, held a gun to her throat and forced her to have sex. He blocked the bedroom door with a piece of furniture and would not let her leave, she said.
The victim told police she managed to slip out of the house a few moments before she saw them down the street on another police call.
