SMARTS schedules 17th District art show

Students from area high schools have their work on display.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Students Motivated by the Arts is holding the 17th District Congressional Art Show through Sept. 30 at the SMARTS Center, 258 Federal Plaza West.
The SMARTS Gallery is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. The exhibit includes works by 15 local students from six school districts.
Leana Teuber of Howland, a junior at Howland High School, won first place with her work "Winds of Destruction." Her artwork will hang for a year in the Cannon Tunnel beneath the nation's Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
Leah Mighell of Niles, a ninth-grader at Niles McKinley High School, won second place with "Rock-Out," and Sarah Raub of Niles, a senior, placed third with "Time Of My Life."
