Swansons feted on anniversary at family event

XHERMITAGE, Pa. -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond B. Swanson, 826 N. Darby Road, was celebrated during a family get-together held Aug. 20 at the Atwater home of a son and daughter in law, Jeff and Tracy Swanson.
The couple's family includes their other children, Greg and Kellie Swanson of Hollywood, Fla.; Doug Swanson of Greenville, Pa.; Jenean and Terry Lord of Montgomery, Ala.; and Gary and Maureen Swanson of Sharpsville, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The former Shirley Jenean Hynniman and Mr. Swanson were united in marriage Aug. 18, 1956, at First Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville, Pa. They attend Covenant Church in Sharon, Pa.
Mrs. Swanson was employed as a registered nurse by various physicians prior to retiring in 2000.
Mr. Swanson served with the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 in Germany. He retired in 1996 as a sports writer at The Vindicator, where he continues to freelance as a sports columnist.
