Several events held for Rollers' 50th anniversary



XGREENFORD -- An evening of activities that took place Aug. 10 were arranged in celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Roller of Greenford.
Their sons, Jeffrey of Greenford and Scott of Pittsburgh, were hosts for the evening, which included a limousine ride for the couple, their family and friends from Greenford to Pittsburgh, a candlelight dinner at Satalio's Restaurant on Mount Washington, and a concert performance by Tony Bennett at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Roller and the former Geraldine Block were united in marriage July 29, 1956, at Washingtonville Lutheran Church and made their home in Greenford. They are members of Greenford Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Mr. Roller retired in 1994 after 38 years as a regional technician with the Central Ohio Breeding Association and is still active in farming. He received the Mahoning County Soil and Water Conservation 2002 District Cooperator Award and also received a Greenford Ruritan Community Achievement Award in 1991 for more than 40 years' involvement with the Greenford Troop of Boy Scouts of America, including 17 years as a scoutmaster. He also served with Greenford Volunteer Fire Department for 42 years.
Mrs. Roller retired in 1995 after 28 years as a cafeteria coordinator with South Range School System. She is active in an area bowling league and is a member of the church auxiliary.
