Pitkos observe 50th anniversary during reception



XPOLAND -- The Knights of Columbus Hall was the setting Sept. 2 as family and friends gathered for a reception to honor Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pitko, 3189 Howell Drive, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Invitations for the celebration were issued by the couple's children and their spouses, Joseph and Karen Pitko of North Lima, Susan and Michael Madsen of Poland, and Thomas and Mary Pitko of Austintown. Also participating were the couple's three grandchildren.
Mr. Pitko and the former Loretta Kellish were married Sept. 1, 1956, at the old St. Matthias Church, Youngstown. They are members of Holy Family Church and of SNPJ Lodge 531.
Prior to retiring in 1999, Mrs. Pitko was employed in sales for 25 years by Dick Adgate Florist in Boardman.
During the Korean War, Mr. Pitko served with the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1952 as a B-29 flight crew gunner. He retired in 1990 after 38 years as a high tension lineman with Ohio Edison Co. in Boardman. He is also a member of Jednota and the Musicians Local 86.
