Smith-Phelan engagement is announced

XNEWTON FALLS -- The engagement of Darlinda Smith of Newton Falls and Ralph Phelan of Leavittsburg is being announced by her parents, Willie Sr. and Evelyn Smith of Newton Falls.
The future groom is a son of Mary Phelan of Montgomery, Ala., and the late Fred Phelan.
The couple have planned an open wedding to be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Monument of Faith Church of God in Christ in Warren. Invitations will be issued for an evening reception to be held at the Avalon Inn and Resort in Howland.
The bride-to-be graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in business management.
