Membership banquetfor Ducks Unlimited
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ducks Unlimited Mahoning Valley Chapter annual membership banquet will be Sept. 22 at Assumption Social Center, 356 South Belle Vista. NRA Youth Sportsfest
VIENNA -- The Trumbull County 4-H Shooting Sports Pioneers Club will host a free NRA Youth Sportsfest Camp on Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fish & amp; Game Club of Vienna on state Route 193. Purpose of the event is to teach basic gun and archery safety to youths ages 9-18. Picnic lunch will be provided. Preregistration at least two weeks in advance is required. Guns will be provided. Annual fall festival
CANFIELD -- The 49th annual Sportsmen's Fall Festival will be Sept. 8-10 on the Mahoning County Coon Hunters Club grounds, off U.S. Route 224 about 31/2 miles west of Canfield. Gates will be open Sept. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to accommodate early arrivals. Activities include water races, country & amp; western music, traders row, games for children and drawings. Gate donation is $4 per day per person. Children under 12 will be admitted free.
Hunter education
GREEN TOWNSHIP -- A hunter education course will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9-10 at the Eastern Ohio Conservation Club on West Calla Road between state Routes 45 and 62 in Green Township. ELLSWORTH -- A hunter education course will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 16-17 at the Mahoning County Coon Hunters Protective Association on U.S. Route 224. Self-defense training
MASURY -- Brookfield Tri-District Conservation Club on Sharon-Hogue Road will conduct a concealed carry firearms and self defense shooting class Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 1. The class will be taught by retired deputy sheriff and police Sgt. Bruce Knodel. It will consist of four hours Friday evening from 6 to 10 and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The class will include the NRA basic pistol course and additional training on self-defense shooting skills. The class will be limited to 10 students. Enrollment fee is $100, and all students must be pre-registered.
