SCOUTS
Receives Eagle Award
Greg Alan Beca, son of Dave and Linda Beca of Howland, received the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor recently at Warren Elks Lodge 295 in Warren. Greg is a member of the Greater Western Reserve Boy Scout Troop 101 with Jim Potjunas as Scoutmaster.
Beca joined Troop 101 May 3, 1999, after earning his Arrow of Light with Cub Pack 122.
In Troop 101, he has held the leadership positions of scribe, patrol leader and quartermaster and has earned 23 merit badges. He attended the Chesapeake and Ohio Towpath 184-mile bicycle trip in 2004.
For his Eagle Service Project, he added four benches around the boccie court, which his older brother, Kyle Beca, had built for Kyle's Eagle project, near Howland High School. Greg also refurbished his band director's band tower adjacent to the boccie courts.
Beca is a freshman at Youngstown State University, where he is studying computer science and music. He is a 2006 graduate of Howland High School.
