A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Poland:
GIRARD
Aug. 27
Burglary: A Church Hill Road woman said someone entered her apartment through a window. Nothing appeared to be missing, though items were strewn about.
Vandalism: Several people told police they saw a man running from Girard Intermediate School, 702 Prospect Ave., before damage to a restroom was discovered.
Drug paraphernalia: After going to an East Main Street residence to investigate possible drug activity, officers took into custody a Cortland woman, 20, on a charge of possession of a drug-abuse instrument. A spoon with burn marks and a suspected crack pipe were found.
Theft: Someone cut a fence near an Ohio Edison Co. substation on High Street and removed property.
Burglary: Someone climbed into an apartment in the 20 block of Church Hill Road through a window and stole copper piping.
Aug. 28
Breaking and entering: A man returned to his residence in the 200 block of East Wilson Avenue and discovered copper plumbing had been removed after someone broke in.
Theft: A Youngstown man hired to perform work at a South Davis Street home discovered five sheets of drywall, a ceiling fan, paint, insulation and other materials missing from a carport. The theft came to about $1,037.
Burglary: Someone entered a residence in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue through the front door and took numerous DVDs.
Arrests: After stopping a vehicle in the 300 block of Broadway Avenue , police arrested a Youngstown woman, 18, and a Girard man, 23, on charges of receiving stolen property. The man also was charged with driving under suspension.
Assault: A Stull Avenue woman alleged that her boyfriend choked her and that his sister punched her in the face and grabbed her hair during an argument. The victim had a minor injury.
Aug. 29
Assault: A 12-year-old Girard boy told police another Girard boy, 14, spit on him during a confrontation at Tod Park on Tod Avenue.
Burglary: Police said they suspected two 20-year-old Girard men broke into a Joan Avenue home and stole jewelry.
LIBERTY
Aug. 24
Assault: A Susan Lane man alleged a 67-year-old neighbor struck him in the stomach and chest during an argument relating to the victim's dog.
Auto theft: A man reported the theft of a 1984 Olds Cutlass Ciera from his yard in the 20 block of Colonial Drive.
Burglary: Someone entered a home in the 1700 block of Naylor-Lloyd Road, apparently through a sliding-glass door, and stole a 20-inch TV, a DVD player, miscellaneous DVDs and a TV stand, for a loss of $490.
Theft: A Leetonia man came out of Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., and noticed a broken taillight on his car.
Aug. 25
Arrest: Authorities arrested a 20-year-old Poland man on a warrant from Liberty. A charge of drug abuse was pending.
Assault: A Naylor-Lloyd Road woman alleged her neighbor, 41, punched her in the face during an argument.
Aug. 26
Theft: Officers picked up a 34-year-old Youngstown woman near Interstate 80 and Salt Springs Road on a warrant from Liberty. She was to appear in court on a theft charge.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: Police arrested a 38-year-old Warren man on Keefer Road who was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for an injury. Pending was a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Burglary: A woman confronted a man in his 50s in her Harding Avenue residence after he apparently crawled in through a bedroom window. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Recovered property: Officers found a 1997 Dodge Caravan in the 10 block of Tuttle Drive after a Campbell man reported it stolen.
Aug. 29
Arrest: While conducting a traffic stop, police arrested a 44-year-old Youngstown man on a warrant from Liberty charging him with probation violation.
Theft: A Youngstown girl, 16, faced two counts of theft after a pair of shoes was stolen from Ramz Clothing, 3551 Belmont Ave. The girl also was accused of removing price tags from two items at Creations Unlimited, same address.
Arrest: After pulling over a car on state Route 193, officers arrested a 27-year-old Girard man. He was wanted on warrants charging him with receiving stolen property, forgery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
POLAND
Aug. 23
Theft: A Lowellville woman reported a table she made was stolen from a residence in the 500 block of North Main Street.
Aug. 26
Stolen property: Police detained and released two juveniles, one age 13, after stopping their vehicle on U.S. Route 224. Officers received a report that the vehicle had stolen license plates.
