Lasky is named chairman of global auto supplier

An automotive consultant also was added to the board.
HOWLAND -- Stoneridge, a global auto supplier based in Howland, has named a new chairman of the board to replace D.M. Draime, the company founder who died in July.
William Lasky takes over the chairman's post after holding it on an interim basis since July.
Lasky will be chairman of Stoneridge and will continue as chairman, president and chief executive of JLG Industries, which produces aerial work platforms and trailers and is based in McConnellsburg, Pa. Oshkosh Truck Corp. recently announced that it was acquiring JLG.
Lasky previously was president of Toledo-based Dana Corp.'s worldwide filtration products group.
"Bill brings leadership and a wealth of experience in manufacturing to his new role as chairman," said John Corey, president and chief executive of Stoneridge. "We look forward to his guidance as our organization strives to reach its full potential."
Corey was named to his posts in January, replacing Gerald Pisani. Corey has been on the Stoneridge board since 2004 and previously was president and chief executive of Safety Components International of Greenville, S.C.
Stoneridge also announced Monday that Kim Korth, 51, was named to the board. She is the founder, owner and president of IRN Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich., an automotive consulting firm.
She will serve a term that continues until the 2007 annual meeting of Stoneridge shareholders and is expected to be nominated for election at the annual meeting, the company said.
Earnings report
Stoneridge said Friday that it earned 4.4 million, or 19 cents a share, in the third quarter, compared with a loss of 3.3 million, or 14 cents a share, in the same quarter last year.
Sales in the third quarter were 172.4 million, compared with 158.7 million in the same quarter last year.
Stoneridge employs 6,000 employees on four continents, but nearly all of the employees are located outside the Mahoning Valley. The company has its headquarters and an Alphabet Co. plant in Trumbull County.
Stoneridge designs and produces wire harnesses and switching, sensing and electronic devices. Its products are used on cars, trucks and other equipment.
