Ursuline wins over SVSM; Rayen and WGH both lose



MINERAL RIDGE -- Desmond Mason scored on a 9-yard run to lead Ursuline High team to a 9-3 victory Friday over Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.
The game was played at Mineral Ridge's stadium.
James Hodge was credited with a safety for Ursuline (5-5).
Ursuline rushed for 151 yards on 40 carries and attempted only one pass, which was incomplete.
SVSM (4-6) had 35 rushes for 129 yards, and was 0-for-2 passing.
The game was the second in as many weeks for Ursuline in which neither team completed a pass.
Lake 25,Rayen 6
UNIONTOWN -- Sal Battles scored a 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to avoid a shutout, but the Tigers' playoff hopes were dashed the final football game in Rayen history.
The Tigers (7-3) will consolidate with Wilson into the new East High next fall.
Lake running back Gene Onabiyi scored two touchdowns for the Blue Streaks (6-4), who took a 25-0 lead into the third quarter. Lake held a 167-143 edge on the ground and a 192-186 edge in total yards.
