WARREN -- A convicted rapist is sentenced to five consecutive life prison terms, plus two years, for the multiple rapes of a 12-year-old girl.
Allan Jackson Jr., 38, of Warren, showed no emotion as Judge John M. Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court imposed the sentence.
The judge described this as one of the worst crimes he has heard of during his years on the bench.
Jackson will become eligible for parole in 52 years, said Chris Becker, an assistant county prosecutor.
Jackson was convicted April 19 by a jury on five counts each of rape and pandering in obscenity of a child.
Judge's comments
Judge Stuard explained that he handed down the long sentence because Jackson has shown no remorse and because of his criminal record, which includes possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
"It's apparent to the court that you have shown no remorse," the judge told Jackson, who stood in front of the bench wearing an orange jail uniform and handcuffs. He was shackled at the waist and ankles.
A number of deputy sheriffs were in the courtroom because Jackson disrupted the court Thursday, when he shouted obscenities in telling the court he was innocent -- and yelled at the victim's mother.
That outburst, Judge Stuard said, "speaks volumes for his feelings for the victim."
Before being sentenced Friday, Jackson apologized to the court for the disruption, which the judge accepted.
Pandering charges
Nevertheless, Jackson was sentenced to five life sentences for the five rape counts and two years for one pandering count, which will run consecutive to the life terms. He was also sentenced to eight years on the four remaining pandering charges that run concurrent to the life terms.
In seeking life in prison for Jackson, Becker reminded the court of the victim's mother's impact statement in which she said her daughter will have to pay for his crimes from the rest of her life.
Jackson, a friend to the girl's family, raped her in the basement of the Warren family home while he was baby-sitting. He used a cell phone to photograph the assaults.
While Judge Stuard explained to Jackson that he will have to register as a sexual predator when released from prison, Jackson told the court not to bother reading the document explaining what will be required of him because of his long prison term.
The judge told Jackson that he will be eligible for parole and released from prison in about 50 years and will have to register.
