OVI Task Force encourages driver safety

CANFIELD -- The Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force encourages drivers to buckle up and choose a person who will not drink to transport other partygoers to and from Halloween parties. The task force will step up efforts through Halloween night Tuesday to watch for drivers operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol.
Task force officials also will operate a checkpoint tonight in Mahoning County and enforce zero tolerance for OVI offenders and drivers not wearing their safety belts. Funding for the OVI effort comes from the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Department of Public Safety, task force officials said.
