Next ACT exam date is scheduled for Dec. 9

YOUNGSTOWN -- College-bound high school students can take the ACT college admission exam Dec. 9, the next national test date.
Registration materials are available at high school guidance offices or students can register online at ACT's Web site, www.actstudent.org.
The postmark or online registration deadline is Friday.
ACT scores are accepted by nearly all colleges and universities across the country to help gauge student applications. The basic test covers four areas: English, reading, mathematics and science. As some colleges require or recommend a writing test score, the exam includes an optional writing test.
The basic exam takes three hours; the writing test will require an additional 30 minutes.
The base registration fee is 29, with an additional 14 fee assessed for the writing test.
Students missing the Nov. 3 registration date can submit a late registration no later than Nov. 16, but that will require an additional fee of 19.
