Judge John Reed of Mercer County Common Pleas Court gave probation to these two people in hearings last week:
Melanie Zoccole, 44, of Erie, placed on four years' probation for felony retail theft for stealing 572 worth of name-brand sweaters, jeans and other clothing from Kaufmann's, 3515 E. State St., Hermitage, on Dec. 26, 2005. The offense is a felony because it is her third or subsequent crime.
Kina Smith, 21, of Fullerton Place, Sharon, placed on two years' probation for felony retail theft for stealing a 5 scarf from Merchandise Liquidators, 1216 Hall Ave., Sharon, on March 10, 2006. The offense is a felony because it is her third or subsequent crime.
