Owens, McRae score TDs in Bobcats' 17-7 victory

KENT -- Voncarie Owens and Kalvin McRae each ran for a touchdown and Ohio snapped Kent State's five-game winning streak with a 17-7 victory Saturday.
Owens scored on a 17-yard run in the first quarter after Kent State's Jake Kilroy punted out of bounds. McRae, who rushed for 103 yards on 26 carries, had a 3-yard scoring run for the Bobcats (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) in the second.
Ohio's Matt Lasher added a 30-yard field goal.
Tom Sitko caught an 8-yard scoring pass from Julian Edelman in the second quarter for Kent State (5-3, 4-1). Edelman was 7-of-20 for 79 yards passing and rushed for 121 yards on 23 carries. He was sacked three times.
Ohio quarterback Austen Everson finished 7-of-15 for 52 yards passing. He threw one interception and was sacked once.
Neither team scored in the second half, and the game was delayed 40 minutes in the third quarter because of lightning.
Temple 28, Bowling Green 14
PHILADELPHIA -- Travis Shelton scored on a 96-yard kickoff return for one of his two touchdowns, and Adam DiMichele threw two scoring passes, as Temple snapped a 20-game losing streak.
It was the Owls' (1-8) first win since a 34-24 victory over Syracuse on Nov. 13, 2004.
The victory is Temple's first under new coach Al Golden, whose Owls lost eight straight and were outscored 351-71, allowing 60 points in three losses.
Ball St. 20, Miami (Ohio) 17
OXFORD, Ohio -- Nate Davis threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Madaris Grant with 1:11 remaining to give Ball State the win.
Ball State (3-6, 3-3 Mid-American Conference) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Terry Moss' 19-yard touchdown reception.
Miami (1-8, 1-4) tied the game in the second when Ryne Robinson caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Mike Kokal.
Kokal (Warren Harding) completed 19 of 34 passes for 205 yards and was intercepted once.
Boston College 41, Buffalo 0
BOSTON -- Chris Crane filled in for starter Matt Ryan and overcame a soaking rain to run for two touchdowns and throw for another, sending Buffalo to its seventh consecutive loss.
Crane completed 17 of 26 passes for 142 yards to No. 18 lead BC (7-1) to scores on its first four possessions.
L.V. Whitworth ran for 84 yards and a touchdown, and Andre Callender had 81 yards rushing as the Eagles did not need to punt until late in the third quarter -- and that was called back for a roughing the kicker penalty.
Buffalo (1-7) had just 92 yards of total offense -- with a total of minus 12 on the ground. The Bulls have not won since a season-opening 9-3 overtime victory over Temple.
W. Michigan 18, E. Michigan 15
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Mark Bonds' 19-yard touchdown run with 5:04 left put Western Michigan ahead for good.
After being held to a field goal through three quarters, the Broncos (6-2, 4-1 MAC) rallied for scoring drives of 65 and 50 yards in the final quarter, winning their third consecutive game.
