Woman charged with assaulting authorities

BOARDMAN -- A Youngstown woman is accused of striking a police officer and kicking a firefighter outside of a South Avenue restaurant.
Police were called to Applebee's about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, Patricia Bruno, 59, West Shawnee Trail, complained that her sugar level was low and police called the fire department and an ambulance.
While she was being treated, Bruno fell, became upset and kicked a firefighter in the leg, a police report said.
Police then tried to control Bruno and she punched an officer in the arm as he was handcuffing her. She then tried to take off her shirt and wouldn't stop screaming, the report said.
The ambulance crew that checked Bruno's sugar level indicated that the woman was fine and she was arrested and taken to Mahoning County jail.
She was charged with two felony assault counts and with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.
