Passenger in stolen car faces charge

BOARDMAN -- The passenger in a stolen car that led police on a brief low-speed chase was charged with carrying a concealed weapon after police found a pistol in the car.
A police officer saw a car that had been reported stolen in the drive-through of Burger King at Hillman Avenue and Midlothian Boulevard about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.
When the car went to leave the restaurant lot, a cruiser pulled in front of it and another behind it.
The driver reversed the car and nearly struck one cruiser and then drove around the other and headed west on Prestwick Drive.
Police followed the car along several streets. The car was traveling about 30 mph and the driver even used its turn signal at one intersection, police said.
The driver got out of the car on Idlewood Avenue and ran. Police couldn't find him.
The passenger, Orestis Jones, 23, of West Boston Avenue, Youngstown, was arrested after admitting there was a gun in the car.
They found the pistol with a loaded magazine next to it on the floor at his feet. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and lodged in the Mahoning County jail.
The serial number on the gun matched one reported stolen in Waterbury, Conn.
