New Middletown store hit in armed robbery

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Police are investigating an armed robbery at McQuaids convenience store at 10367 Main St.
Two victims, both store employees, said they were restrained with duct tape by two masked men who stole cash and cigarettes.
Police responded around 6 a.m. Thursday and employees leaving the building said the two men who robbed the store had fled the area. New Springfield and Poland Township police helped search the area for the men.
One employee said a man forced her to crawl across the floor to the utility room, where he bound her hands with duct tape. After a search of the store, the man returned and held a gun to her head. He asked if there was anymore money anywhere.
She said no and both men left, she said.
Another employee said the other man demanded she open the register and brought the other man out when she did not immediately respond. He screamed at her and knocked her down, then wrapped duct tape around her arms to restrain her arms behind her back.
Police are reviewing videos from the store's security cameras, and believe the men may have fled in a gray car or a red sport-utility vehicle.
