Austintown schedules its first leaf pickup

AUSTINTOWN -- The township's first leaf collection starts Monday.
Residents need to buy recycled paper bags for their leaves, not plastic bags, said township administrator Michael Dockry. He said retailers will know what type of bags are needed.
The collection will go on for four weeks, skipping the week of Thanksgiving and resuming for one week thereafter, Dockry said.
The township will be divided into four sections for the pickup, and pickup days vary by section:
Mondays -- the southeast part of the township bounded by Route 46 and New Road will have pickup.
Tuesdays -- the section bounded by Mahoning, Route 46 and New Road.
Wednesdays -- all homes north of Mahoning Avenue.
Thursdays -- the southwest part of the township bounded by Mahoning Avenue and Route 46.
