Jury to view the house where women died

WARREN -- Jurors will be shown the house on Newton-Bailey Road, Newton Township, where two women were murdered last December as the Jermaine McKinney murder trial continues.
On Monday, attorneys from the prosecutor's office and defense exercised their right to remove jurors from the panel of 34 jurors who started the day in the Trumbull County Common Pleas courtroom of Judge W. Wyatt McKay. That process reduced the jury to the final 12 and four alternates, who will hear the case.
Over the past 10 days, the pool of jurors was whittled down from 400 to a little under 200 who didn't have personal or time conflicts with serving. There were 34 potential jurors left Monday morning who were still eligible after a screening process in which Judge McKay and the attorneys asked questions about their attitudes toward the death penalty, among other issues.
If convicted of killing Wanda Rollyson, 70, and her daughter, Rebecca Cliburn, 43, on Dec. 21, 2005, McKinney could get the death penalty. McKinney, 26, known as "Maniac," is formerly of Girard and Youngstown.
When jurors return from viewing the scene today, opening statements will be given by the defense and prosecution. Testimony then could take as long as two weeks.
