2 events will offer information about lupus

The Youngstown YWCA offers two free community events this week for people with lupus and their friends and family, in recognition of October as National Lupus Awareness Month.
Systemic lupus erythemastosus is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system attacks healthy tissues and organs.
The first meeting is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown. Dr. Kathy McKinnon, a rheumatologist at the Lupus Center of Excellence in Pittsburgh, will answer questions. Reservations are not required.
The second event, "Living with Lupus: A Salute to Life," is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Poland Library Meeting Room, 311 S. Main St., Poland. Angela Neal-Barnett, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology at Kent State University, will present "Keep Rising," a motivational program that will include a vocalist. Brunch will be provided. Reservations are required. Call (330) 746-6361.
