MLS ROUNDUP Sunday's playoff games

Chivas 2, Dynamo 1
CARSON, Calif. -- Ante Razov and Francisco Palencia scored goals and Brad Guzan came up with a save on a late penalty kick to help Chivas USA beat Houston in a Western Conference semifinal. Razov scored in the 45th minute while Palencia doubled Chivas lead in the 68th minute. Houston's Brian Ching scored in the 75th minute. Guzan, though, kept Houston from drawing level after stopping Dwayne De Rosarios penalty kick in the 86th minute. Chivas will take a one-goal lead into the decisive match, scheduled for Oct. 29 at Houston's Robertson Stadium.
Fire 1, Revolution 0
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Justin Mapp's free kick gave Chicago the victory over New England Revolution in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal. Mapp blasted the ball over the wall of defenders and bent it inside the right post after New England's Jay Heaps took down Chicago's Chris Armas outside the box in the 35th minute. The Revolution almost tied it in the 64th minute when Taylor Twellman snuck in the box near the right post and headed a ball that was smothered by Fire goalkeeper Matt Pickens. He finished with eight saves in his first career playoff start. After taking a hard fall in the 82nd minute, New England's Clint Dempsey limped off the field and was replaced by Jose Manuel Abundis. Shalrie Joseph made his first appearance for New England since Sept. 13 after recovering from right hand surgery. The Fire and Revolution will meet Saturday in Foxborough, Mass., for the final game of their playoff series.
